Temporary Signs and Signals Being Installed for the Rally

STURGIS/HILL CITY, S.D. – Due to the increase in traffic volumes expected during the 75th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will be activating temporary traffic signals at the following locations:

  • Junction of highways 14A and 85
  • Junction of I-90 Exit 32 eastbound and westbound ramps and Junction Avenue
  • Junction of I-90 Exit 55 eastbound ramps and Deadwood Avenue
  • Junction of Highway 34 and Fort Meade main entrance
  • Junction of highways 34 and 79 east of Sturgis
  • Junction of highways 34 and 131st Street
  • Junction of highways 44 and 385
  • Junction of highways 16 and 385
  • Junction of highways 16A and 244
     

The traffic signals will be in full operation prior to July 24 until Aug. 10, 2015.

In addition, temporary stop signs will be installed on Highway16 at the intersection of Old Hill City Road in Hill City due to expected heavy traffic flow in this location.

The stop signs will be installed Wednesday, July 29, and removed on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Motorists are asked to be alert to the temporary signs and signals throughout the Black Hills and be prepared to stop.
